Is Grad School for Me?

You are the only one who can make the decision of whether graduate school is right for you. It's a big decision that will come with many sleepless nights filled with writing and studying and often times a hefty final bill.

Take your time.

Consider your options.

Most importantly, consider your own skills, abilities, and interests. Honest evaluations of your interests and skills are challenging and often uncomfortable. That said, such evaluations are vital to making a choice you can live with.

Students choose graduate school for many reasons, including intellectual curiosity and professional advancement.

These are good reasons.

Some choose grad school because they aren't sure what to do or don't feel ready for a job.

These aren't good reasons.

Graduate school requires a big commitment of time and money. If you're not sure that you're ready, then it's best to wait.

How useful a graduate degree will be for you will depend on your chosen field, the school you might attend and the cost of going there, how much more you'll earn after graduating, and timing.

If you are up for the challenge and are ready to take on the next two to seven years with open eyes and a level head, then UL Lafayette has outstanding programs to offer you in a variety of fields.
